Detroit Police are looking for a thief who was stopped in
his tracks by someone he thought was an easy target.
Officials
say the woman was very brave. In fact, she may be small in
stature, but she is big in the bravery department.
The
intruder remains on the loose and the 69-year-old woman is
trying to recover from a terrifying ordeal. It
happened Monday night around 7:30 when the man broke into
her home, near Sherwood and 7 Mile.
The
man was confronted with something he probably was not expecting.
The
homeowner, who is slightly hard-of-hearing, had heard enough
to know that something was wrong, so she grabbed a kitchen
steak knife to defend herself.
The
man tried to break into the window at first. Then he went
around to the side of the house where he forced his way in.
The 69-year-old woman and the intruder actually got into a
scuffle, but she scared him off.
The
man is described as a black man between 25 and 30-years-old,
about 230 pounds with a dark complexion. He
took off down the alley behind this woman's home on a black
bicycle. If you have any information, call Detroit Police.
