Thanksgiving with turkey is tradition, and that's why one man is making sure needy people don't miss out this holiday. He decided to give turkeys away for free.

The holidays often bring out the best in people, and that's what we have at Scott's Hotel at Grand River and 14th Street. It's a turkey give away.

Dozens of people lined up outside Scott's Hotel late Tuesday afternoon, eager to get their hands on Thanksgiving turkey, and what better turkey than free turkey.

Five-hundred free turkeys were given out, thanks to Reverend Dwight Scott.

"That's lot of turkeys," said Channel 7's Ray Sayah.

"God is good," Reverend Scott said.

Reverend Dwight Scott greets families who lined up for a free turkey Tuesday.

And so is Reverend Scott, who for the second year in a row is making Thanksgiving a little easier on the wallet for the community. His church spent $3,000 on the turkeys so the less fortunate can have a Thanksgiving bird for free.

"They're real grateful, and thankful, and humble," the reverend said.

"It makes it better, make it a blessed holiday, more blessed than it was," said Willie Williams, in line for a free turkey.

Tuesday's give away was for families only. Wednesday, the giveaway starts back up for people who live by themselves. Come by the Scott's Hotel on Grand River and 14th Street and sign up. The giveaway goes from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
